In the News: Lawmakers look for solutions as negotiations at port cripple economy

Brown_120Two Washington state senators are making a plan that would stop negotiations from causing traffic at ports to slow the next time a labor contract needs renewal. Sen. Sharon Brown (R-Kennewick) and Sen. Michael Baumgartner (R-Spokane) want to provide recommendations soon.

…Brown is chair of the legislature’s Trade and Economic Development Committee in Olympia. One of her first orders of business as the legislative session began was to hear testimony from dockworkers and other people involved in trade regarding the port slowdowns and what that means for Washington state’s economy.
